Planning a wedding can be a tad stressful. There is just so much to do before the big day: decide on a venue, go for a cake tasting, pick out a dress, pick out your bridesmaids dresses, decide on your florals and the list just goes on and on. I remember before my wedding day I hadn’t even figured out what music to play during our ceremony. Try adding about a couple thousand miles and a different timezone to that equation! That is exactly what happened with this wonderful couple. Nikki is from North Carolina and Devin is from Oklahoma and they both met as missionaries and teachers in Guatemala – isn’t that just the sweetest love story! They were both living and working in Guatemala while planning their wedding here in the U.S. With two amazing families and a rock star wedding planner, Ashlee Little from Ashlee Little Wedding + Events, planning a wedding from more than 2,500 miles away never looked easier 🙂
Mandy and I arrived early the day of their wedding so that we could take a few minutes to meet Nikki and Devin in person since all of our chats pre wedding were via email and Skype. We ran through a quick timeline and hit the floor running by shooting detail shots. This was the first wedding I have photographed where the bride and groom opted to do a first look before the ceremony and I will forever recommend this too all of my couples! First looks are a great way to spend a few minutes with your soon-to-be husband or wife and just to decompress before the start of the ceremony and get all of your nerves out. I love the way Nikki and Devin had a few moments in the church garden just to be and take everything in.
So get ready folks – this post is going to be a long one! Here are some of my favorite shots from Nikki + Devin’s wedding 🙂
Congratulations Nikki + Devin!
